Overview

Hawaii Information Service is provided by MLS Hawaii, Inc.- a Hawaii corporation owned by the Kauai and Hawaii Island Boards of Realtors.

We provide the members of these boards with the REsearch™ database – an integrated multiple listing service (MLS) and statewide ownership public records (TMK) online system. Non-MLS members may subscribe to TMK and Maps service.

REsearch is available in two formats - WebREsearch™ and TEXT:

WebREsearch™ is the browser-based version of the database, which displays data in a Graphical Interface using the Internet Explorer 5.5 or 6.0 browser. We recommend high-speed internet access for maximum convenience. You may also access via modem using an Internet dialer that dials into a local server on each island, using the same dial up numbers as the text version.

The versatility of a browser interface allows more than just text data to be displayed. Data is searched by using easy query boxes and drop down menus. Because the MLS and TMK (ownership) databases are integrated, displaying ownership data simultaneously with MLS is a cinch! Additionally, WebREsearch™ presents a Photo Gallery (photos as provided by the listing agents). Each listing may have up to 99 photos.

The value added Maps service provides both statewide seamless GIS and tax parcel maps that can be downloaded. Maps are fully integrated with the public records database allowing for one-click jump between maps and TMK. Benefits include flagged search results with full capibility for more detail.

The TEXT version is accessed using any type of universal communication software and a modem. It is displayed in an ASCII (standard DOS) type of format which is the format choice for users who wish to utilize data terminals or would like to retrieve only text data.

Our staff provides over 75 years of combined real estate experience, together with MLS and public record data expertise. We have a licensed real estate broker and six (previously practicing) licensed agents who are able to apply actual industry experience to the database. Personnel who have Masters and Bachelors degrees in Computer Science and MIS confidently man our MIS department. Our Research department provides over 25 years of experience with public record documentation and the Bureau of Conveyances.
