Using our Cross Browser compatible system?

Posted on 11-28-2011

If you're a fan of Internet Explorer, you will need to be on IE8 (for Windows XP and above) or IE9(for Windows Vista or Windows 7). IE7, which is now nearly five years old, is no longer supported.

IMPORTANT!STICKY

The cross browser version of REsearch is always under construction. HIS is constantly putting up new code to fix known bugs, or to add new functionality. We will also be changing the address of the log in page from time to time. That means:

  • Clear your cache before you log in. Your browser will store our code for a long time and since we are always updating that code, you run the risk of using old code. Clearing your cache will eliminate this problem. Contact our tech support team if you need help with this, or try our Online Help for clearing cache.
  • Do NOT bookmark the login page. Bookmark this page instead. This page will always have the correct log in page address.
  • HIS wants to hear from you. You can email us, report a bug, or contact us on Facebook and Twitter. Tell us how we're doing, voice your opinion, and start a conversation.

Known Issues

As with any new version of REsearch, it is a work in progress during this "Open Testing" period. Here is a list of known issues that you should be aware of so that you can keep your sanity as you navigate through. Click Here for more

What You Need to Know

1. REsearch Cross-Browser (CB) is running on a separate system with a separate login page. You can continue to use REsearch 4.5 with Internet Explorer if you choose.

2. Please do not bookmark the login pages themselves, but rather, bookmark and start at the Hawaii Information Services homepage at www.hawaiiinformation.com.

3. REsearch CB is using live data, so any changes you make will affect the live system.

4. Most problems are caused by outdated code that's cached by your browser (particularly if you try to switch between REsearch CB and REsearch 4.5). Be sure to regularly clear your cache. We have instructions for how to do so in Chrome and Safari.

5. REsearch CB should work in all major, current browsers for Windows and OSX systems. You should also be able to use iOS and Android devices as well, but there will be some quirks (usually relating to touch versus mouse interactions).

6. If you are going to use Internet Explorer on REsearch CB, you will need to deactivate compatibility mode (which is recommended for the REsearch 4.5).
